Who needs your help? According to a survey by Feeding America, approximately 11.5 % or 4,060 residents in Seneca County struggle with food insecurity. These are children who go to bed hungry, senior citizens who have to decide between buying groceries and purchasing medication, and parents who do without so their children can have enough to eat. No child should go to bed hungry; no family should face the choice between paying the utility bill and putting food on the table.
For the past three years, the Seneca County House of Concern’s ‘Need to Feed’ challenge has been an important element in keeping our food pantry stocked to help those with food insecurity in our local communities as well as bring awareness to the needs of our neighbors in Seneca County. We now serve an average of 456 households, or 1,207 individuals each month.
This year, generous individuals, local businesses, service organizations, and churches have contributed nearly $14,000 to “The Need to Feed” Challenge, a sponsor fund to encourage individuals to match the sponsors donations. Now is the time to fight hunger in Seneca County and give your donation an extra kick.
