Director’s Notes

If I had one word to describe 2010 it would be BUSY! We were busy at H.O.C. Every month was busier than the last: our numbers in the pantry just kept rising.

It seems like it has been awhile since the last newsletter. The time has flown by as time seems to do with an increasingly alarming rate!  It is as my mother always told me.the older you get the quicker it goes!

If I had one word to describe 2010 it would be BUSY! We were busy at H.O.C.     Every month seemed busier than the last. Our numbers in the pantry just kept rising. December…which was a short as far as how many days we were open..December we saw 286 families. The last two months of the year had really high numbers plus many new families.  I am sure the holidays can cause a rise in numbers but I have to think perhaps the fact that fuel is up over 3$ a gallon again might have something to do with it.

I read that the nations economic outlook is good.that things are on an upswing and I certainly hope that is true.  Recently one morning while getting ready for work I heard all about the “good news” on Wall Street. That same day..Cyndi and I had 19 food clients by noon! I guess things take awhile to get from Wall Street to State Street!

We go through a tremendous amount of food.  Thankfully, we were blessed with many wonderful donations during the holiday season and we have several churches and individuals that donate food all year long. My heartfelt thanks goes to all who donate.  Without the help of this most caring community we would not be able to even begin to keep up with the needs. all of you a Happy Prosperous and Joyful New Year! May you be blessed with good fortune, good friends and the grace of God.
