Summer 2011
Directors Notes:
It is hard to believe but we are in our last weeks of summer. As I write this today is a very cool and rainy day. It is a preview of what is to come I guess. Summer always seems just a little too short.
The House of Concern has been busy this summer. We have several new projects going on that I have written more about in this newsletter they are The Community Garden, The SNAP Application Assistance Program and The Food-Co-op program called Food Sense.
We also have moved. House of Concern has moved the offices to the house next door. The number is 33 State Street. This house is one that we have owned for several years and ARC had been utilizing. When they moved to their new building we saw an opportunity to provide a few new services and to expand store space.
We have been blessed to have virtually all of the labor donated to rehabbing the space. West Fayette Church led by Dave Saunders and a crew of dedicated workers were instrumental in making this happen. Every Tuesday night, for a couple months they were over at the house cleaning and painting. It looks great and we truly appreciate all the work that everyone did.
The store has also gotten a new look so plan to come over and visit us. We are still having daily sales so come and see what is happening. Remember that all your store purchases help to fund the food pantry.
