Next HOC Workday Tuesday May 3rd

Dave Saunders led a group of volunteers in the effort to spiff up the house next to the House of Concern. The building has been owner by the House of Concern for many years and was most recently used by the Seneca-Cayuga ARC. Since they have moved to new quarters, the HOC is refurbishing the building for use as office and maintenance space as well as a training center.

The organization is recruiting agencies and volunteers to offer training in food preparation, money management and other important skills.

Pastor Stephen Beals serves on the Board of the HOC and recruited parishioner Dave Saunders to take a lead role as project manager.

In previous workdays, Donna Conley, Judy Wheaton, Cheryl Bonetti, Sean Barry, Jake Barry, Scott Saunders, Karen and Stephen Beals and Rotarian Susan Backlund joined the crew in applying the first coat of primer to two of the downstairs rooms. Also joining the crew last week was Rotarian Joe Denny and NYCC student, Paul Mickler. Dave and Jake also installed a light/fan fixture and Scott and Sean took on demolition duties, attacking the rotted front porch which is to be replaced by a brand new one.

Much more work needs to be done on the hose, and volunteers with a couple of hours of time to donate are encouraged to contact Dave at 585-9900 or the House of Concern office at 568-2433.
